Lila and I went on a few short hikes this week (1.6 miles and 1.8 miles, respectively) to try and enjoy the last of this beautiful fall weather! I love rain and snow, but these warm fall days have been so lovely.
Lila *loves* the outdoors; she really connects with all aspects of nature. She loves to stop and inspect bugs and rocks and flowers...it's truly a joy to be in the outdoors with her. Although she seriously scared me today--we were exploring some scenic flat rocks next to the trail, and she said "ooh look a snake!" I looked closer and it was a baby rattlesnake! It was curled up, sunning itself on the rock. Whoa!

Holy Cow! A rattle snake! Glad you and she "got away" from it okay. Did it rattle its rattler? If so, good lesson in identifying it as a most poisonous snake, huh?
