Way To Go, Bill!

My father-in-law is the Director Of Community Care for the Los Angeles VA Department--part of his duties include being in charge of all the homeless programs for veterans, among many other things. A few weeks ago, a bunch of military muckety mucks came out for a conference on health care and other programs for veterans. Bill, my FIL, gave a presentation, and afterward, Mike Mullen the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff pulled him aside and told him that he thought Bill was doing REALLY good things, and that he had been looking forward to speaking with him. He then gave him an officer's coin (military coin) for a job well done--a big deal, I guess--if Bill ever goes to a military bar, he can pull that out and earn the respect of everyone there (plus free drinks). The higher rank of the officer that gives it to you, the more it this one's a biggie.

Here's an article about the visit.

Congratulations, Bill!
