The Olympics are coming, the Olympics are coming!

Poor Justin. I'm sure he's already dreading it. Not that he hates the Olympics....I'm sure he likes them just fine. What he does dread is having 290384323 hours of Olympics' coverage on our DVR. It's gonna be worse than when a tennis Grand Slam is on (he thought Wimbledon lasted a month, I kid you not, because of how much tennis I watched).

I, however, am super duper excited! I love the Olympics. Bring it on!

She's got skillz

We went out for sushi this afternoon and Lila rocked it with the chopsticks. She seemed to like the crab the best, although the avocado roll was a hit, too. I think Justin would be overjoyed if sushi became her favorite food...any excuse for a sushi dinner, right?

Go Rockies!

We went to a baseball game with my dad this Wednesday and had so much fun! Lila ate a ton of peanuts; I think that was totally the best part for her. She was concentrating so hard on shelling them....she's a cheap date.

I have great memories of going to Dodger Stadium with my dad when I was wee, and I hope Lila will make some similar ones. Yay for America's past time!

Bear and Beagle dog go for a hike

Even though it was hotter than Hades today, I thought it would be a good idea to go for a hike. In the sweltering hot weather. When I HATE hate hate being hot. But we had a really good time anyway! I think it helps to know you have a car that will blast wonderful A/C on you when you're done.

L wanted to go down the steepest trail we could find....and she rocked it the whole way. Good job, baby!

Yo Gabba Gabba!, coolest show ever

I love this show. It's a kid's tv show, but I love watching it, too. The episode I saw the other day had the Aquabats performing! I saw them live, many many moons ago....at the Ogden, I think? Yeah, I think I saw them at the Ogden. Biz Markie was on an episode last week, too.

Anywho. Yo Gabba Gabba! rules.

Inspiration, in the form of Helen Mirren

I can't get over how freakin' amazing she looks. Homegirl is 63 years old, and rockin' this bikini like nobody's business. Helen, you are an inspiration!

It's been almost a year, WTF!?!?!

It's been almost one year since Paris. How in wild woolly hell did that happen!?

Sigh. I miss my BFFFFFFFF. Luckily, she's coming to visit in less than 2 months. I can't freakin' wait.

Rula Bula. Best Paris bar filled with drunk Scots EVER.

The Train Museum is pretty darn cool

Kidlet and I went to the Colorado Railroad Museum yesterday! It was the first time for both of us, and I thought it was really neat. Trains, and the history of railroads in this country, are interesting to me. Like, starting back in the 1880s, Colorado Midland Railroad had a wildflower excursion train that took people up to the beautiful Colorado mountain fields that were brimming with wildflowers...and they actually had photo processing equipment and a darkroom on the train so that the people could buy pictures of their trip when they got back to the station. Starting back in the 19th century, this was--I had no idea that gimmick had started all the way back then! Good old USA capitalism.

Oh, and Bear picked out her own outfit yesterday. She's so cool. :)

Look what PMS made me do

PMS hormones can really, really mess with me. I can be sweet and happy one minute, and screaming & crying the next. My emotions feel out of control, and they yo-yo like crazy. Not fun times, for me or for anyone in my vicinity. So. My hormones have been wreaking havoc with me the last few days, and today seems to be the culmination. Specifically, the summit happened in the Target parking lot. I was having a full on meltdown, completely losing my cool. The only thing I could think to do was chop all my hair off (why this was my first response, I don't know). I really wanted to go home, take a pair of scissors, and start hacking......thankfully, I came to my senses, and went to a salon instead. I'm super happy with the result (can't tell so well in the pics, but loads of layers and razored hair framing my face). Now, does anybody have any chocolate?!

Cedar Hill Cemetery

For a kid, what spells F-U-N like a day at the cemetery? Nothing, that's what! Heh.

I took my kiddo to Cedar Hill Cemetery today, to walk around and look at gravestones and take pictures. I had fun, and I think Lila did too....it was pretty and she could run around and there were flowers and bugs for her to look at.

There are lots of old city founders and pioneers buried there, and some neat grave markers, too. I saw a few that were fashioned to look like trees, which is very cool. I really liked those.

I was farting around with the camera, and here are some pics:

Neat-o Aural Find

I stumbled on this site yesterday, and oh my hive, it's super duper cool. I've already downloaded a TON of MP3s and put them onto cds for Little Bear. The people that put together the site have compiled, just, so many old children's record recordings from the 1940s and 1950s. Gene Autry, Rosemary Clooney, so many classic songs and stories and tales, etc.....really an amazing archive of old records. And it's all free to download!

Love this site. Kiddie Records
